What are Dentures?
Dentures are custom made dental prostheses which are designed to replace your missing teeth. We offer full and partial dentures in different materials colour matched to your own teeth and your complexion.
The Benefits of Dentures
Dentures fill gaps in your mouth caused by missing teeth
Dentures enable a good chewing function
Prevent your remaining teeth from becoming overloaded
Dentures provide a natural looking smile and with that comes confidence and overall wellbeing
Dentures are easy to clean and maintain and should last many years
Dentures: The Process
1
The initial stage is a general consultation – where your desires and wishes are noted.
2
We then will take primary impressions. A mould of your mouth is then used to create a special tray which is custom made for you.
3
Second impressions in the special trays are completed. We record the structure of your teeth, how you bite together, your lip lines and smile lines.
4
Now to try your denture in wax. We check the shape, shade and fit of the teeth. Working in wax we can adjust the dentures and reposition teeth if required.
5
Fitting your dentures.
6
Review – we always expect to need to adjust new dentures as close fitting dentures can rub.
Types of Dentures
At Courtyard Dental we offer two types of dentures:

Acrylic – plastic dentures

Cobalt chrome – metal dentures
Both types of dentures can be made as full or partial dentures.
Full dentures are used if you have no teeth as they replace all teeth. Whereas partial dentures are used if you have some of your own teeth.
Our Facial Aesthetics Practitioner
All facial aesthetics treatments are carried out by Dr Ailsa David, a medically accredited practitioner, ensuring safe, professional and high quality care tailored to you. Ailsa trained with Professor Brian Franks on his Medical Aesthetic Non-Surgical Interventions Training course in 2023. She holds certification for Botulinum Toxin Part 1 (for the upper face) and Dermal Fillers Parts I and II (for lower face and lip augmentation)
"I love carrying out facial aesthetics because small, carefully placed treatments can make a big difference to how someone feels about themselves. I really enjoy helping people feel more confident, refreshed, and like the best version of themselves.”

Frequently Asked Questions
We usually say the process of making dentures will take ten weeks from start to review – but in an emergency this can be reduced. Get in touch today to start your journey to a more confident smile.
How long does it take to get dentures?
We use a laboratory in Leicester to create our partial and full dentures and therefore have to post each stage to the lab. Ian, the technician, is excellent and works to a very high standard and we feel the wait is worth it.
Why does it take so long?
Denture costs vary depending on the type constructed, dentures at our dental practice range between £650 and £2500. Acrylic dentures are cheaper than cobalt chrome ones.
How much do dentures cost?
No, we recommend dentures are left out at night to allow the soft tissues and gums of the mouth to relax.
Can you sleep with dentures in?
A full denture is if you have no teeth, a partial denture is used if you have a few of your own teeth.
What’s the difference between full and partial dentures?
The time to adapt to dentures is very individual and can range between weeks and months.
How long does it take to get used to dentures?
We take every care at the impression stage to take a clear and well moulded impression.
How do your dentists ensure a good fit for new dentures?
Dentures should be soaked over night and cleaned with a specific denture brush.
How do I look after my dentures?
That will depend on the care given to the dentures, but we would expect to replace dentures within 5 - 10 years.
What is the average lifespan of a set of full dentures?
