Veneers

Veneers are a custom made prosthetic that attach to the teeth to create a beautiful smile. Veneers are ideal if you want to create a more uniform smile.

What are Veneers?

Veneers are a thin cover, akin to a false fingernail, that are used to cover the surface of teeth to either create the illusion of a straight smile. They can be a fix for cosmetic issues like stains, chips, gaps or slight misalignment of your teeth. Made from composite bonding or porcelain the “shells” fit over the surface of teeth to create a uniform smile.

The Benefits of Veneers

  • Veneers can be placed with minimal preparation to create the illusion of a straight smile

  • Durable and long-lasting with proper care

  • Create a more uniform smile

  • In some instances veneers cause minimal damage to your teeth

  • Veneers are custom made by an excellent laboratory team we partner with

  • Veneers are resistant to stains

How The Veneers Process Works

1

We start with an examination at our dental practice to make sure your teeth and occlusion are suitable for veneers,

2

We include occlusal analysis to check how your teeth align and how your jaw functions.

3

During your preparation appointment  your teeth are then scanned and the scan is sent digitally for the veneers to be manufactured.

4

Once we have your veneers back from our partner lab we fit them making sure they give you the smile and confidence you’ve been looking for.

Frequently Asked Questions

If well looked after veneers can last for decades. We’ll offer advice during your appointment to help you take good care of your veneers.

How long do veneers last?

To care for your veneers we recommend cleaning them carefully. You should use floss or interdental brushes. Your diet can also have an impact on how long veneers last. If your diet is not heavy on sugar or acids then your veneers can last for many years.

How do I care for veneers to make them last longer?

The price for composite veneers, veneers made from porcelain or zircon or lithium disilicate will be discussed with you. Ultimately the costs will depend upon the type of veneers you have chosen.

How much is a full set of veneers?

Yes veneers can be very lifelike and we will match the colour of your adjacent teeth. We want to make sure your veneers create a smile you can be proud of.

Do veneers look like natural teeth?

Veneers can debond and come off which means they will need to be recemented to your teeth. Veneers can also break as they are a very thin covering. We’ll make sure you know how to look after your veneers to avoid these issues.

Are there any downsides to having veneers?

Veneers can be both permanent and reversible, it depends on the type you choose and the reasons you are choosing veneers.

Are veneers permanent or reversible?

Sometimes the teeth have to be prepared which means they are cut away to make space for the veneers. However, sometimes the teeth do not need to be prepared at all. We’ll talk you through what will happen to your teeth under the veneers during your appointment.

What happens to the teeth under the veneers?

Your teeth can be sensitive following any dental treatment, including having veneers. This will be explained when we place your veneers and measures you can use  to combat any pain and sensitivity.

Does having veneers hurt during or after?

Sometimes diets need to be modified to protect the veneers. For example, not biting directly into a hard apple instead the apple will need to be cut up and eaten on the back teeth.

Can you eat normally with veneers?
